For paints there are a couple options. Createx, Aqua Flow and E'Tac are the ones I see people using the most. I use E'Tac and createx.
I recently got some SavT and am in the trying out stages right now, but so far it has made some shirts still look good severals washings more than if I used nothing at all. Also the SavT is used if you are not going to heatset it.
Another option is to spray(I can't think of what it is called for Createx, but for E'Tac its called Extend-Air) which is like a clear paint. I have sprayed it completely over my work as a last step then put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30-45 seconds(thanks Kat) and that also has been holding up really well. I did a onesie for my daughter and has been throught 8 or 9 washings and the color is still vibrant, just getting some of the little fuzzies now. All the shirts I've painted so far have just been for myself and we are working on finding another alternative to heatsetting until we can come up with funds needed to get one.
I'm no expert, just a guy playing around in his spare time, so there may be someone out there can help you more than I can. Hope I didn't confuse you, if I did let me know and I'll try to figure out what I'm saying before I start typing then maybe we both might understand what I'm trying to say.Good Luck

I have used createx for many years and never had a problem as long as it is heat set right and a iron works just fine. I will tell people to wait 1 week before first washing turn shirt inside out wash in cold water and let air dry. I have never used safe t spray or anything else on the shirts. I heard you could use safe t spray if you were some where you could not heat set the shirt but you might want to check with coast airbrush on that. When you heat set the shirt leave the shirt on the board and lay a sheet of wax paper over the design turn the iron on high heat for 2 min. going over the whole shirt.

I don't really consider myself a t shirt airbrusher, though I have done them from time to time.I've used Createx,E-tac and Golden paints, they all have good points.I use a piece of cardboard covered with terry cloth (old towel) for a shirt board. You'll want different sizes to put sirts on.I tape the loose folds of the shirt in the back. The terry cloth on the board alows the paint to blow though the cloth without blowing back and creating fuzzy lines. If there are light shadows or blending I'll spray a clear base or extender over everything to seal and protect it. A heat gun(don't singe the shirt) or the dryer and sometimes the iron to heat set the paint. If I use the iron I cover the shirt with clean linen, you can singe the linen without damaging the shirt. Sometimes I pre-iron the shirt to get the fuzzies to lay flat...
But all in all, shirts can be fun and a break from some other surfaces that may be a bit more ''demanding''.

i was shown to use aerosol hair spray, after the airbrushing is all done hairspray it, works really good, and aqua net is cheap.

use a teflon sheet sold for applying heat transfer vinyl to garments and an iron or heat press. It'll keep it form burning your garments or sticking to the iron.
