I got a truck that needs the wheels painted. Do I use the same paint as on the body or is there some other more durable paint?
Second question. These are standard issue Ford aluminum that look like they've been clearcoated. Can I just scuff and paint or is there more prep work I need to do before layin' paint on 'em?
Thanks guys.

I just posted a How-to on wheels. It's not showing up in the Automotive section yet, I guess it needs to be reviewed by admin first.
Use automotive paint and clears. The chip books show paint codes for wheels.
If no damage to the wheel is to be repaired, clean-scuff and paint.

Thanks a lot. Hope that "How-to" shows up. I'll check on it.
I can't clear anything, I'd have to send it out. I was going for a "flat" look and I don't know how familiar he is with flattening agents. Does it need a clear coat or can I double up the paint layers for extra life? How durable would it be that way?
Thanks again.

Why can't you clear?
Using automotive paints, with out clearing, would only leave the wheel with a base coat that would not provide protection from the elements.
I have no idea how to flatten the look of clear, I only spray it one way, to look as deep, smooth and wet as possible.
Sorry
Richard

I can't clear because I'm working out of my garage. I send my stuff out to a guy nearby. It's pretty much a collision repair center, not a custom shop, so I'm not sure what he knows about flattening agents or if he'd spend the cash for just these wheels. I don't have a lot of extra cash for things like that myself. I guess I'll have to look at other options or turn down the job. We'll see. Thanks a lot though. I appreciate it.

Hey, Craig! You got any thoughts on the subject? I know you've been busy so I thought I'd bring this up higher on the list to get your attention.
Thanks
