I'm sort of new to pinstriping and every time I use my mack 00 it loses some hair (about 10 - 20 hairs). Is this normal? I clean it with thinner when I'm done and then coat it with neatsfoot oil. I wipe most of the oil off and put it in a case. I wonder if I am not cleaning it properly or doing something wrong. How long do these brushes usually last?

Paletting at a 90 degree angel may do that. How do you palet??

No it isn't normal. You either have a bad brush ,or one possability is when you stripe are you finding the drag is a bit excessive.Could be the paint is drying ,or getting gummy in the brush and when you palette it you are pulling the hairs out because they are sticking and dragging. You need to rewet more often with reducer ,use a fresh magazine or phone book page ,or what ever you are using to pallet on and clean it out occasionally if you find this happening .Once they start falling apart your brush time is limited. You can try saving it by using a drop of CrazyGlue in the furrel.Clean your brush well before though.
ps. by the way you now have a 000 striping brush ,or a rare 0000 .LOL!

Brushes are sometimes a crapshoot....I have found that a brand new one will lose a few hairs but after that they're generally be pretty good but occasionally you'll get some that shed like an Irish Setter......I've gotten pretty good at picking them out of a wet pinstripe,,,,Sometimes i feel like a surgeon:D

Thanks for the replies. I think it was a paleting issue for sure. I did some stripping today and was carefull to keep the brush wet. It only lost a couple of hairs this time so I think that was my problem. Thanks for the krazy glue tip Ron. I'll try that out and see if I can save this brush. Thanks again guys, it's been a big help.
