I have been asked to airbrush a skateboard and was wondering if I needed a certain primer as a base or if an automotive primer will work fine?

i normally just use base from a can for skateboards.
or i use 3m77 and spray on some thick watercolor paper and then hand paint them for that "tattoo" finish.

Are you doing a base and everything....if so make sure to seal it or the wood in the deck will absord the base and clear and ruin the deck....if you are just airbrushing over what there then just base from a can and some spray bomb clear, cause they are gonna ride it and ruin it anyways

I always use single stage as a basecoat on wood after sealing it...i put 3-4 thick coats, then after a day or two, scuff and shoot graphics then clear. I've done alot of signs and they hold up amazing that way...

if you want the wood to be showing through your graphics, i would seal the it with a few coats of clear.
