So I painted my blazer a few months ago. Now that I have gotten over some of the small mistakes and design errors, I look at it and realize I could have done better as far as textures, etc. It has alittle airbrushed texture in it(one one kolor), but the rest of the kolors are solid.
The whole thing has been striped already.(slashed, im still learnin) Im planning on wetsanding and adding more clear so I figured why not try to add more textures into the mix .....
Question is:
how would I go about adding in more textures into an already striped design?
Could I attempt to wetsand the stripes off?
or just take my time and airbrush around them?(oh lord plz say no to that one)
anyone ever done this or know a good way....
I was thinkin wetsand, airbrush in textures being careful around striping, but not to cautious, then bringing in a second kolor of slash striping..
UUUUUGHHHHH!!! I dunno?

What your talking about can be done, it is a pain though. I definitely would not recommend trying to sand the stripes off,.. If they are cleared, that is a nitemare you don't even want to deal with. You will end up sanding off more of the underlying basecoat then stripes. I would recommend using 1/8 fine line tape, and be very, very careful to not leave any gaps between the striping, and your effect. It is better to tape leaving just a hint of the stripe showing. Try a small area, and unmask, if it is acceptable,...then keep going. I do not recommend using slash striping to hide poor masking. One slash striped graphic is an artistic statement, a whole set of slashed graphics is a nitemare. Good luck, and don't forget to experiment on a small area. Since you have clear already on it, you can always wetsand it off again, if you hate it.

Thanks alot Craig.
Sounds like alittle more than I can do in a weekend, lol.....
what if i ran 1/8-1/4inch tape down the middle of the striping, as to create a straight line.....then just went ahead and painted over the stripes............. of course that would depend on how consistent my stripe thickness is.....
wish I had know how to stripe alittle straighter....lol.....
one last question. Is there a company that makes a clear fineline tape? So if I can do the method above I can see if the tape is overlapping enough paint to create a solid stripe...
thanks again, I think I got some work cut out for me..

I've never seen any clear tape but it sounds like a good idea though.
You could take some 1/16" 3M f'line and give you a little more wiggle room on the stripe, then run some 1/4 off it. PITA but it might help ya.

yea i think it would be a major pain.............but it would allow me to improve alittle bit more on the designs and add some more stuff........hell why not, it would be a nice experience, so if this fella doesnt buy it, Ill give it a shot................
