I am painting a set of hood scoops for a truck with ghost flames and was wondering the easiest way of transfering the flame desing from one hood scoop to the other. I have the flames layed out and masked off already on the right one and can't think of a way to get them exactly the same on the left one.

Use the old pounce trick. Take a sheet of masking paper, and lay it flat over your already laid out flames. Make sure it is taped firmly, and with a pen, mark some reference points on the paper, that you can use to line it up on the other side, exactly in the same position. With that done, take a piece of chalk, and rub the paper to transfer the image of your tape layout to the masking paper. Now that you can see the outline, you will want to take a pounce wheel, (you can get them at most hobby stores, or automotive shops. Dave Monnig has them at Coast Airbrush, (714)-635-5557) The pounce will puts small holes in the paper, as you roll it around the design. After the pouncing is done, flip your masking paper around, position, and tape it down to the other side of the scoop. Use a pounce block, or sock full of snap line chalk, and pat the design down. This will transfer the image with the chalk to the surface. All you have to do now, is retape following your chalk dot line, wipe the surface clean, finish masking, and you are ready to paint. Hope this helps you out some.
