How-to post an image via the “insert image” button

First thing you need is a place to store your pictures. Think of “posting a picture” as nothing more then putting a link in the post to where your picture is stored (On the internet!) using a simple HTML tag. Most ISPs give you your own website for such things but if not or the front end sucks I would suggest finding a 3rd party host. I will be using photo bucket for this example. This is NOT an endorsement for that site. You could just as easily use car domain, picture dump, my space, or any number of hosts that allow picture storage (Again this is NOT an endorsement; choose what site works for you)

Ok so I went ahead and registered a Photo bucket account ( www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com/) ). Once in I was able to upload an image fairly easily. I won’t go into a walk through on this because I’m sure the site has a good “how-to” but I will mention the photo front end.

Notice the bottom of the photo has “URL”, “TAG” , and “IMG” code….. This is what you will need to link the picture to the site. For now we will worry only about the URL since the forum software creates the IMG tag automatically.

So once you have a picture uploaded go and start your post or thread. When you are ready to insert an image all you need to do is press the “Insert Image button;

Then go to your photo bucket page and copy the “URL” code by clicking the blue “URL” text next to the code then “Crtl – c “ or right on the highlighted area then “copy”. Go back to the forum post screen and paste the URL into the pop screen;

That should do the trick. I’m using the same steps to create this post…..
