I have only had a chance to play with a dozen of their colors. But the stuff I have recently used is pretty decent. They have a different color selection then HoK, which is kewl, and their metallics are pretty vibrant. It pulls nicely, and dries in about the same time as HoK. So it is another nice alternative to the slow drying One-Shot. Plus, like HoK, it has the excellent advantage of being a striping urethane, and being compatible with just about every clear system out there. If you are a striper, I highly recommend grabbing a few cans of it, and giveing it a try. If anybody else out there has tried it, let us know what you think, and post some pics.

Paint to live,,.....and sometimes stripe...hehehh.

Hey Craig, some of my stripin' buddies tried some when it first came out. They seemed to think that it didn't cover all that well compared to the competition. I might be putting you on the hot seat here, but how would you say they compare with the HOK product for coverage? And did you hear anything regarding a little change in the product (for the better) after the initial release? I understand that Tom Kelly did some consulting.

No hot seat here,....Ask Away. I think a number of stripers did some consulting with them. The first batch I had before the paint was released had a coverage issue. I think it had something to do with the amount of pigmentation. I recieved the same colors a few weeks later, and they were much better. Better coverage, and better pulling action. Like I mentioned in the previous post, I have only been given a few of their striping paints to try out, so I cannot give an honest compare, and contrast to HoK's complete line. I like the fact that there are different colors.

I have never set out to find one product to replace another, merely suppliment. The more colors, and effects I have at my finger tips, the better Kustom painter I will be. When I get the opportunity to try the complete line, with the current formula, I can then give an informed opinion. At this point, I am still using the HoK for my primary striping paint.

Keep on striping.

The cans are the same size. Not sure of the price. You could call Dave on that. As far as I know they do not have a color book out. Again, Dave would be the expert on that one.

They are a lil costly. There $20.00 a can compared to $10.00 to $12.00 a can for HOK. And how about the reducer? I didn't see anything listed for it.

I always used the Medium temp reducer. I do the same thing for the HoK, with the RU-311. The only time I use the HoK striping reducer is when I want the paint to pull longer lines. There is a bit of retarder in the 00 reducer. You can accomplish the same thing by using a slower reducer, and adding a few drops of catalyst to it.

Keep on stripin'

I'm paying at least $14 - $15 here for the cheapest HOK colors. I think that this is one of the things we can't really bitch about. I don't see them getting rich off of striping paint, if they were every other company would be makin' it too. I'm just glad to have the convenience that it provides. Seems steep though, especially since I was paying $10 a quart for 1-Shot 25 years ago. I'll continue with the HOK until I'm disatisfied, but will certainly give the ALSA a try, starting with the colors that HOK doesn't have.

Well thats what I plan on doing. Once I can see a color chart from them on there striping paints. Love HOK paints and just add to the colors they don't have.

Now we all know red is more expensive than black or white yet they're all priced the same....A little steep....They should've put some sort of color chart on there
