move up to Bass Lake , Oakhurst or North Fork....not sure how work would work out but life's pace certainly is much mellower. I wish i could say it is better down here but i'm not sure it is. I like so cal as i'm only 45 mins from ocean, 45 mins to desert, 15 mins to the top of a mountain (an hour to Arrowhead)....and 30 minutes to COAST AIRBRUSH and 1 min to my paint jobber. I hope all is well with you!

Brother James....I moved out here from Phoenix this past January. Things have definately gone the way I was expecting them to. I needed to leave Arizona, it was driving me nuts there, and waaayyyy to far from the beach. lol. I'm up in Santa Maria right now, but gonna move down to Orange County this weekend. Its all nice and stuff up this ways, but waaaayyy to slow here. I'll have an extra room if you wanna move south.

I'd second texas, especially if you are going to take your excellent skills to market. since Texas went to a part time legislature, the entire landscape has changed. Fewer politicians and more people that care are making decisions. Far lower taxes, far less government paperwork/bureaucracy if you want to run your own business; in face a pro-business stance vs. anti business stance in CA. Cheaper land, cheaper houses, and you got those Texas women! We would miss you here in CA though!
Yehaw for us TX women! We saw this comin years ago when we lived in San Diego and left as the housing market burst and sold nick of time. I feel we made the right choice picking TX over any other state, when u factor in the recession hitting same time. Otherwise I'd probably never let TX cross my mind. I don't plan on staying here forever tho. There are worce places 2 be. Miss the beaches, but there's beaches here if I made the drive and didn't mind the oil balls. Yuck! It's much more affordable here, than CA. But don't make rash decitions, good luck and I hope things improve for ya. If you ever need a friend in TX, I'm right here for ya man!

Hey J. If you really want to get tangled up in a shitball, move to Jersey! Highest auto insurance in the country. Crazy taxes. Crowded. And nothing but a mall culture as far as the eye can see. I'm born and raised here, so I'm used to it. But talk about fast paced, I am minutes away from NYC. It seems as though we are in a constant hustle just to make the bills every month. Unfortunately, we're kinda stuck as my kids are really step kids and we can't move out of a 60 mile radius from their dad without jumping through some serious hoops.
Good luck. The feeling may pass. Or, you may move. You seem to be hardworking, talented, and driven. It'll work out.
You ever want to see the right coast, drop me a line.

JMB,
I hear ya bro....from someone down in that great state of TX, Taiwan is your only bet
Hang in there and don't make any rash decisions. Go get a tattoo or something to help vent, but don't leave. Assuming you have a current network of friends/peers/etc you'll be far more likely to find something there than going to a place that is completely new.
Plus we don't hire CA folks here in TX....ya'll 've never worked a day in your sunny lives
Just goff'n let me know if I can help!
